Dinner, Networking, and Featured Presentations

This will be a gathering of pastors and church mission leaders from a diversity of churches, gathering to network in the context of local and global mission. Learn about what God is doing through KC-area churches and their mission partners and make great missional connections. This event includes dinner, networking, and a featured presentation by a panel discussing diversity within the citywide Church of KC.

God is moving in powerful ways, reaching out to various people groups within the KC metro area. This June 28 Sending Network Gathering will emphasize awareness and celebration of how God is working through a very diverse (and increasingly connected) citywide Church of KC to reach a Kansas City metro that is also very diverse.

The featured global presentation will be an update provided by Jay Grimwood about how God is working in Asia and the Middle East.

Jay has served as the International Development Pastor at Graceway in Kansas City, MO, for over 10 years, and has led international pastoral/teacher training teams to various nations in Asia. He has also helped develop educational and humanitarian programs in Africa, the Middle East, and Taiwan. He is responsible for local outreach teams that focus on community service, the homeless, refugees, and language development.

The Panel on Diversity within the Citywide Church of KC will include the following presenters:

Michael Griswold is the Teen Director at Macedonia Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri. He has a passion for working with teens and helping them engage with God's Word. After attending Macedonia Baptist Church for several years, and serving in other roles, Michael is now a part of the church staff.

Debbie Buchholz is the Senior Pastor at Deaf International Community Church and works closely with deaf refugees. She is hard of hearing and comes from a family of genetic deafness. Her parents are Deaf and her seven children are all Deaf or hard-of-hearing. Rev. Buchholz has been a pastor since 1991, and she is a co-founder and the board chairperson of Deaf International.

Mekuriachew Kassa is a pastor at El Shaddai International Ethiopian Church in Overland Park, Kansas. The church was planted on October 14, 2009, with this vision statement, “We are ordained to go, to bear fruit and our fruit remains! John 15:16 is our vision.”

Larry Williams has served as the Missions Pastor/Executive Director of Hillcrest Covenant Church in Prairie Village, Kansas, since September 2015. Prior to that time, he served with Youth for Christ for 38 years. Areas of special interest for Larry in the missions arena include: local and global refugee ministries, and inner-city Kansas City ministry/church planting.

Shmuel Wolkenfeld is a Rabbi at Or HaOlam Messianic Synagogue in Overland Park, Kansas, where their vision and purpose is working to bring Jewish people, and those grafted in, to their covenantal identity in Messiah.

Enrique Uria is the Spanish Campus Pastor for Indian Creek Community Church in Olathe, Kansas. He is married to Val and is the father of three children. Enrique is a pastor who came out of the business world having run a language school for years. Enrique has a vision for the business community to thrive and for Christian business leaders to see their work as mission.

We hope you can attend this June 28 Sending Network gathering! It's going to be an excellent time together, building community and learning more about what God is doing through a diversity of KC-area churches and their mission partners...and the featured presentations are going to be educational and inspiring! Each church represented at this network gathering will also have time to share briefly about their church's mission activity.
