River's Edge Fellowship

River's Edge Fellowship is in Raytown, MO, and Travis Yeargans, Sr., is the Lead Pastor. River's Edge Fellowship is "A Church of God Loving, Kingdom Building, People Reaching Followers of Jesus Christ."  River's Edge Fellowship is a church who cares about reaching their community.  The church is a Caring for Kids partner at Norfleet Elementary School in Raytown, MO. They serve inmates at the Jackson County Jail as well as the homeless at City Union Mission. The church hosts an open basketball outreach every Saturday for men. They also serve 3 churches and an organization with donations from Panera Bread.

Pastor Yeargans is a life-long resident of Kansas City, MO, growing up 2 blocks south of Lincoln High School where he graduated in 1982. After trying college twice, he decided it wasn't for him. Travis says, "I was a lost young man at the time." He was heavily involved in alcohol and drugs and had no sense of purpose until he met Jesus when he was 23 years old and his life has never been the same. Shortly after he accepted Christ, he married his childhood sweetheart, Johnetta (who he met in 2nd grade). Travis and Johnetta have two children, Porsche and Travis, Jr., and 7 grandchildren.

He began a career on the Kansas City Fire Dept. in March of 1991. During that time, he experienced the call of God on his life to preach. He began to serve in a variety of different ministry roles as a Children’s Pastor, Youth Pastor, Adult Ministry and Assistant Pastor in four different churches in the Kansas City area.

As the years pressed on, Travis believed God was preparing him to be a lead pastor. He wasn’t sure exactly what that would look like. He received a call from a friend about a ministry opportunity, began to pray about it and believed God was using this opportunity to start a new church. And so River's Edge Fellowship was born and held its first service on January 1, 2006. The church went through several changes and was replanted in 2016. As they look toward the future, River's Edge Fellowship is excited about the wonderful works God has planned for them.
