KC Health Professions Ministry Network - uniting vision and talent for local and global service
KC-area health professionals, church leaders, and others who are interested in health care ministry...you are invited to join us for the next KC Health Professions Ministry Network Gathering on June 20. This is an opportunity to build community and encourage each other in the context of healthcare ministry.
Featured presentations include:
•Geofrey Kigenyi, Executive Director of Mercy and Truth Medical Missions
Geofrey is originally from Uganda where he spent most of his childhood before moving to the United States almost 20 years ago. He is currently the Executive Director for Mercy and Truth Medical Missions, a Kansas nonprofit with a mission of providing healthcare for the uninsured and underserved in the KC metro area and in developing countries around the world.
•Jim Grant, Executive Director of Global Birthing Home Foundation
In 2007, Jim Grant heard Dr. Stan Shaffer speak about Maison de Naissance (French for “Home of Birth”), a birthing home in rural SW Haiti that Dr. Shaffer had co-founded with another Kansas City area OB/GYN, Dr. Elizabeth Wickstrom. Jim became a ‘permanent’ volunteer in 2009 as the Logistics Director, and stepped into the foundation’s Executive Director position in April of 2011. He has now traveled to Haiti dozens of times, and visits Maison de Naissance 4-6 times per year.
The KC Health Professions Ministry Network is being facilitated by The Sending Project in partnership with Dr. Nicholas Comninellis, Founder and President of INMED, the Institute for International Medicine. Dr. Comninellis serves as a full-time volunteer with INMED.
